My 2018 SLS-Free, Paraben-Free Skincare & Haircare Routine

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since my last post, but rest assured I've been trying out a bunch of new things to share with y'all. I thought it might be fun to share my regular routine as it stood in 2018, my first full perioral dermatitis-free calendar year. I've linked to the cheapest place I can currently find each product online, and bolded my favorite irreplaceable items!

Hair Care:
Acure Mega Moisture Shampoo, Argan Oil & Pumpkin
Andalou Naturals Argan Oil & Shea Moisture Rich Conditioner

Other stuff in my shower:
Seed Refreshingly Gentle Body Cleanser
Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser
Yes to Grapefruit Exfoliating Scrub (used monthly maybe)
Skintimate Strawberry Tangerine Twist Shave Gel (somehow the big name shaving creams have fewer irritants than the "natural" brands)

Skin Care:
Tarteguard Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 ($$$, but us 30-somethings gotta slather on those SPFs and I haven't found one I like better...yet)
Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion with Clary Sage
Burt's Bees Cocoa and CupuaƇu Butters Body Lotion
Alba Pore Purifying Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser (used at night)
Thayer's Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera (used at night)
Mary Ann's Naturals Eye Cream (I also use it on dry spots & it's heaven on my lips at night)

Makeup:
bareMinerals barePRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation
bareMinerals Loose Powder Blush
bareMinerals Lasting Line Eyeliner in Lasting Brown
Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Tinted Lash Primer (it's like wearing mascara without looking like you're wearing mascara)
IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (on the rare occasions I wear mascara at all)
Grove Collaborative Mint SPF 15 Lip Balm
Nature's Brands Natural Mineral Lipstick in "Risky Business"

Toothpaste:
Kiss My Face Enamel Xtra Gel Toothpaste

Top 3 Splurge-Worthy Things I Discovered in 2018:

Lume Natural Deodorant ($13 for a full-size stick)
I just picked this up a month ago and it has been a game-changer. I've tried a few other natural deodorants (Native, Jason, and Kiss My Face) and they either left weird stains on my clothes (Native) or left me smelly enough by the end of the work day that I was self conscious (Jason and Kiss My Face). Not so with Lume! It's a little weird to apply (a little goes a looong way and you have to let it dry for a bit) but I smell 0 body odor, even the one time I tested it by waking up THE NEXT MORNING and going for a run. Sold.

Weleda Sensitive Care Almond Facial Cream ($19.99 for 1oz)
This will likely replace my Burt's Bees Day Lotion even though it's a million times more expensive. It's really light but still moisturizes so well! Pro Tip: I found it cheaper at Wegmans if you're blessed to have one nearby.

Volition Beauty Detoxifying Silt Gelee Mask ($60 for 2oz)
I received a sample of this mask in a Play Smarts by Sephora box I picked up for $15 to try out a few things. I have never been into masks before but after trying this out, I am hooked. I never fully realized how many permanent red bumps I had on my face until I put this on the first time and all the redness went away... I bought a full size on Black Friday for $40 and I am going to milk it for as long as I possibly can.

What have you discovered this year? Anything you're excited to try?
